Sanford Herskovitz (Mister Brisket) purveys the finest quality USDA prime beef, veal, lamb, pork, poultry, and seafood in this country! Although a landmark Cleveland butcher shop for 40+ years, in 2006, they broadened their butcher and meat-delivery business by selling hot corned beef and pastrami sandwiches at their counter. After all, the best meat should make the best sandwiches, and soon folks lined up to order their mouthwatering selections. It was time to expand.
In 2018, Mister Brisket broke through a wall and opened Mister Brisket Next Door, where guests can grab a seat and enjoy what they've ordered at the counter from 11 am to 3 pm. Sandwiches include corned beef, brisket, pastrami, bbq brisket, turkey, chicken salad, all-beef hot dogs, and beef salami. If you're feeling ravenous, The Duke piles on more than a pound of corned beef, brisket, pastrami, and turkey in one sandwich! Complement any choice with a soup or side item like coleslaw, macaroni salad, or potato salad.
Mister Brisket's reputation for excellence is based primarily on the quality of their beef. Currently, they feature USDA Prime Meyer Natural Angus products. All Meyer Natural Angus beef comes from cattle raised without being dosed on antibiotics and growth hormones. In addition, the cattle are certified to have been humanely raised by HAACP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point).
Mister Brisket’s chickens eat a diet of grains and meal. They’re dipped in cool water to aid the removal of feathers but never scalded. Moreover, their chicken is delivered fresh. These differences ensure their poultry products have more flavor than any chicken you’ve ever eaten. Sanford has appeared on Joan Nathan’s Jewish Cooking in America series, CNBC’s The Tom Snyder Show, ABC’s Home Show and is a regular guest on Cleveland’s Channel 5 Morning Exchange. He also acts as a consultant to cookbook editors, conducts classes in cooking schools, and is a freelance columnist.
Every holiday season, Mister Brisket asks patrons to show support for military troops overseas by purchasing salamis which they ship to them. The program is known as Salamis to Troops. Each salami is dried before shipment and sent with Cleveland’s own Stadium Mustard and is accompanied by notes of support from all contributors.
